Urban Upbound has partnered with Radish Health to provide virtual primary care including telemedicine appointments, at home COVID-19 testing, and daily health assessments. All of these services will be offered for free to Urban Upbound’s workforce which serves 30,000 individuals living in public housing neighborhoods through program sites in Long Island City, Astoria, Far Rockaway and East Harlem to provide services and break cycles of poverty in New York City public housing and other low-income communities.
Radish Health has already partnered with municipalities throughout New York to safely reopen workplaces by conducting state-mandated health screenings, providing in- person and immediate virtual doctor and arranging at-home testing for employees who are showing symptoms of COVID-19.
“Our technology platform and medical professionals stand ready to help essential organizations like Urban Upbound and municipalities reopen safely and receive cutting edge digital healthcare normally reserved for only a handful of technology companies,” said Radish Health CEO, Dr. Viral Patel.
Suraj Patel who serves on Urban Upbound’s Board of Directors and heads Radish Health’s Social Impact initiatives said “We’ve seen with this pandemic the disproportionate burden our healthcare system places on working people and communities of color, those groups must be at the front of the line for support going forward, not the last. In the coming weeks, we hope to partner with employee unions and organizations, to continue fighting for equity in COVID care.”
"Urban Upbound has continued to provide essential services to public housing residents and other low-income New Yorkers throughout the pandemic, both in-person and virtually. Radish Health’s screening, telemedicine and remote testing services cement our efforts to provide a safe work environment for our staff and to help them stay in good health. We are very grateful to Suraj Patel for introducing us to Radish Health," said Urban Upbound Co-Founder and CEO, Bishop Mitchell Taylor.
